Convention Watch: Amy Goodman Arrested

Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!, was arrested on Monday at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota. Democracy Now! was filming tear gassing, pepper spraying, and firing of rubber bullets when Goodman and two members of her team were seized by police. See the arrest:

Goodman was arrested while attempting to free Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar, two Democracy Now! producers who were being detained. Kouddous and Salazar were arrested while they were covering street demonstrations. Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher told Democracy Now! that Kouddous and Salazar were arrested on suspicion of rioting. All three were released later in the evening, according to reliable sources.

Several dozen others were also arrested during the demonstration. Law enforcement officers used pepper spray, rubber bullets, and concussion grenades.
